Working SMART ...
Most of us will think the best way to work is to stay busy but is that really the right way?
When you look at the statement and action as a whole this does sound like a good idea, the saying throw enough dirt at a wall and something will stick, old scenario. But... and this is a very big but, when you are dealing with the next generation of the United Kingdom you need to give this more thought. You can spend hours calling people and putting the phone down 100 times a day but you could spend 1 hour having a quality conversation with three people. Which is more beneficial?
As you know I decided to make the move and further my career at First for Education not so long ago now but after scanning the whole market of agencies, of which there are LOADS, I decided to go with First for Education. Why? Well, the ethos from the Directors down is very similar, work SMART not silly. Anyone can be a busy fool but only you can control those hours in the day and get something out of them. First for Education have given me the freedom to work the way I want and how I want.
Now, this really rang true to me after having to follow a strict, almost army like, regime. With a proactive outlook, SMART mindset, positive attitude and a genuine passion for Education, you can go far in this industry. I now start my day with SMART targets -
- Specific
- Measurable
- Attainable
- Realistic
- Timely
Where am I going with this? The long and the short of this is that working SMART should be your sole concentration during your working day, whether that is 9 til 5 or 7 til 4, use your time wisely.
