Working as a Senior Operations Manager in Immigration Enforcement

My name is Scott, and I’m a Senior Operations Manager in Immigration Enforcement.

We’re recruiting for 45 Operations Managers and 20 Senior Operations Managers to work in Immigration Enforcement’s National Returns Progression Command at locations across the country.

I joined the Home Office because I wanted a role in public service, and here I am over 20 years later. I’ve had lots of opportunities, interesting roles and career progression along the way.

Every day I work together with colleagues based in towns and cities around the UK, from my home, my local office and offices in other regions. We work closely on a range of activities, despite the geographical distance. We provide briefings, internal guidance and external correspondence for Members of Parliaments, Ministers and other Immigration Enforcement colleagues.

One of the things I really appreciate about working for the Home Office is the department's respect for diversity and inclusion, which means a lot to me.

Flexible working helps me keep a work-life balance. I’m an early riser, so I start work at 7am. Being able to work from home for part of the week means I can take breaks to drop my kids off and collect them from school.
