Working out can impact your work life!
You would expect your colleague to talk to you about work, but perhaps you would be surprised to have him talk to you about working out. We tend to compartmentalize life into neat packages: work, career, home, family, leisure, and hobbies.
I recently committed to doing a triathlon so started to train actively. When it comes to getting in shape for a competition, even if you are already physically active, it can be a challenge. The mind can be willing where the body is weak. We need to start off by balancing the two. In my case, the harder I push myself, the more finite a balance between the two and bigger overall reward.
Again, we tend to consider the body and mind separately, but they are intimately linked. The stronger my body gets, the stronger my mind gets. The daily working of my physicality gave great benefits to my mentality. I find my energy levels soar which results in greater productivity. I find a lightness of step that gives my moods a lift. I find a fluidity of movement that evolves into a flow of creativity.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I can speak for myself and for many. The benefits of exercise are not limited to the body but extended to all areas of our persons and lives. This, has for me, always been a revelation. I, therefore, would like to encourage each and every one of you to give it a try. Choose a physical activity, commit to doing it regularly and see if it enhances your life as it has mine.
I have been reminded, that my physical activity is an integral part of the whole package.
