Working at the National Command and Control Unit
UK Home Office Careers
We are the lead government department for immigration, passports, drugs policy, crime, fire, counter-terrorism & police.
Hi, my name is Brandon and I’m an Immigration Officer.
We’re currently recruiting for 35 Immigration Officers to work in the National Command and Control Unit (NCCU), which is part of Immigration Enforcement based in Salford.
I started my role at NCCU in October 2019. When I applied for the job, I was coming to the end of my master’s degree at university, where I studied Marine and Freshwater Biology. I had no prior experience of working in the Home Office when I joined, but the new starter training course and initial mentoring period at NCCU helped me to develop quickly into a high-performing member of the team.
I deal with a large variety of different enquires, each with their own unique challenges – no two days are the same! My role is also one of great responsibility, where my actions make a real difference and impact on people’s lives.
The unit also offers scope for doing project work alongside your regular duties. I’ve volunteered for additional responsibilities, such as becoming a regional Diversity and Inclusion contact officer. There are loads of opportunities for further learning, such as shadowing days at other units to see what they do first-hand.
Ultimately, this is an incredibly rewarding role where you have ample opportunity to develop your skills and gain new experiences. For anybody looking to kickstart their career in an exciting, rewarding and challenging field, I would absolutely recommend Immigration Enforcement.
You can learn more about the roles available, including the salaries, responsibilities and how to apply by visiting the campaign page on the Home Office Careers website. The deadline for applications is 23:55 on Friday 2nd December 2022.

1 年Only in Manchester? Nothing in London? Thank you
I was an IO back in the day, I pulled the pin in 2009 when we emigrated. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't stand a chance of getting recruited these days, I'm far too ordinary and conformist. Good luck to all who apply.
