Working has different meaning also.
A good article was recently came accross reading.....
I can only share my experience as a friend, observant, no expert. This is a common dilemma I see in most of the youth - I myself am going through it. Why the youth? Because we are full of energy, we see almost every change happening over the web; and we are curious to know why it is happening this way.
We sail a lot in this ocean of tools and technologies, but the problem with some of us is that we just touch the tip of iceberg - we don't go deep into it. I have worked on a very wide range of software, and I think every one of them can teach you almost all the basics of Computer Science.
You just have to specialize in one of the technologies. Which one? You should have fallen in love with one of them until now; if not... keep searching. I have met amazing people in every field you have mentioned in your query; why don't you aspire to be one in any of them? Maybe because you don't have a love developed yet?
If you think making apps can help - give it a shot, but professionally. You always have options for freelancing and working for open-source software. In short, just search for one thing you love doing; else drop to loving what you do.
What should be the career plan of a IT sector guy after 8-10 years of experience for better future growth?
After a point of time, when one become very much proficient in his/her technology but the salary and designation is not grow as per the proficiency, then acc. to my perspective it’s better to upgrade yourself from technology to management and make a jump in the career. And for that just search around yourself what can be done to increase the impact of resume for getting more and more job calls than your peers because a technical person if decided to move to management then he/she must have something extra in his profile.
Depends on what field of IT You're in.
IT Sector is vast in specializations. If you're in ERP you can always learn new technologies and systems. (Like SAP, or even Microsoft Dynamics which are constantly evolving and has scope similarly we have WinGold, WinGold Next, ARI, etc… with number of countries based clients)
If you're interested in Web and related field, but not currently working in one, it might be tough for you to get in, for almost all new companies who hires freshers won’t be needing an 8 year experienced guy to be a starter.
If you are in developing field and planning to move on with it but to higher grounds, you'll need qualifications, Maybe masters in related field.
And there are a lot of other fields too, there is Hardware and systems engineering, Security systems, Graphics, Data warehousing, etc.
Or if you're planning to change the career path completely, the best and profitable option will be management, as you have 8 years of experience and hope you have not lost touch with mathematics and all, you'll be easily be able to clear CAT, or GMAT and will be able to get into a better B school, you experience will be a great plus. This way after the course, you'll be able to get into software project management, or other related management field in IT Sector companies itself, and the scope is always high.
