Working From Home...Grateful

Working From Home...Grateful

I’m sitting here working from home, first day of the next two weeks. Mixed emotions with the Coronavirus happening – high anxiety, wondering what will happen next with what is going on around the world.

But so much of what I’m feeling right now is GRATEFUL! Grateful to be working for a company that has the confidence in me to get work done from home. Grateful to be working for a company that understands the urgency of this situation and allows me to be home with my kids so that they can also stay safe and healthy (knock on wood).

You see so many notices in recent days that companies are asking employees to work from home, but won’t you won’t see are the companies that don’t allow employees to work from home. Even in situations like this, they are forced to take vacation time…even when they are fully capable of doing their job remotely. My thoughts go out to them. I know they are out there because I’ve had my own experiences with them, and I know others that have been asked not to work from home even in this current environment. It's a shame that some companies do not have the wherewithal to empower their employees to get their job done from a remote location. Those companies that are not adjusting to modern society will soon be suffering the implications and some already are. I do understand there are some businesses where you must be on site, of course, I’m not referring to those circumstances. My thoughts go out to them as well - the stress, anxiety and even fear they may be feeling right now is not something to take lightly.

My goal in this post isn’t to focus on the negativity, it is quite honestly the opposite. I just want to say, "Thank You, Door Services Corporation, it means a lot to me and I know it means a lot to so many others."

Krista, glad to see that all seems to be well with you in these troubled times.? I am presently on paid furlough from my job at the 2020 Census.? Furlough started the afternoon of 3/18, after a manager-level conference call we were told that we were being sent home with pay at least thru 4/4.? The whole Census schedule is pushed back, trainings will now be virtual/online instead of in-person, but no update on when we will resume Census operations.? Trying to get some things done around the house, keep busy, go for a solo walk, keep social distancing etc. Take care and stay positive!?
