Working From Home As A Social Media Manager After The Great Resignation

Working From Home As A Social Media Manager After The Great Resignation

Now more than ever, switching to remote-type work is becoming more common.

The beauty of being a social media manager is that you can complete your work virtually anywhere (an office space, your bed, or the islands in the Bahamas!) Just remember to have a working computer, WIFI, and the ability to complete tasks on-time.

So what are the biggest pros and cons of this type of lifestyle vs. a corporate 9-5 career?

PRO #1: Flexible Work Schedule

With a flexible work schedule you can tailor your work around your most productive times and are not tied to a strict 9-5 schedule. This gives you more time in your day to plan other things. A flexible schedule can lead to higher productivity rates for employees too as they are working when convenient for them.

CON #1: Lack of Socialization

When the only form of communication you have with your co-workers is through Zoom calls, emails, and Slack, it’s hard to find time to socialize. If you make the change to remote work, remember to set aside time to meet up with friends and family to get some extra social interaction since you lose the camaraderie of socializing in the office.

PRO #2: Save Time and Money

When you eliminate the need to commute to and from work everyday, you’ll save money on gas, work clothes and meals that you’ll eat out on lunch breaks or midday coffee runs. You’ll get back more time in your day when you eliminate travel time to work as well when you work from home.

CON #2: Overworking More Prominent?

Sometimes working from home eliminates a lot of stress and distractions that come with working in an office. It’s easy to fall into the habit of overworking because of the convenience of it all as well. Make it a practice to set a good work-life balance, schedule certain times you clock in and out and don’t work outside of these boundaries.

PRO #3: Prioritizing Yourself

Working remotely eliminates a lot of stress as you’re working in the comfort of your own home. The flexibility of working where you want, when you want, gives you ample opportunity to take breaks and time to schedule self-care throughout the day, which should be your number one investment.

CON #3: Distractions

As much as working from home eliminates office distractions, new ones are added too. Especially if you live with other people or have pets, it can be hard sometimes to find peace and quiet. Just remember to have open communication with the other members of your household and make it known that you have set hours when you request to not be disturbed.
