Working capital loan of Euro 10 million for Newipe?, a next generation sustainable viscose fabric

Turkey’s leading wet wipes manufacturer Sapro received a working capital, amounting to Euro 10 million with a repayment period of 4 years, for Newipe?, the world’s first next-generation sustainable viscose fabric, launched by the brand with its experience of 25 years. The brand will utilize the funds, provided by the joint undertaking of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Turkish Industrial Development Bank (TSKB), for the manufacture of the new generation sustainable fabric Newipe?.

One of the four largest manufacturers of private label wet wipes in Europe, exporting its products to 65 countries, Sapro received a working capital loan of Euro 10 million for the manufacture of Newipe?, a sustainable next-generation viscose fabric, produced with less carbon footprint compared to generic viscose

fabrics, and with a more rapid return to the nature. With the funds provided with the joint undertaking of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Turkish Industrial Development Bank (TSKB), the capitalization of the new generation material will be ensured, in addition to its large-scale

manufacture.

Production with 14 percent less carbon emission:

Produced for the first time by Sapro, Newipe? is produced with completely natural fibres, combining two distinct technologies. With Newipe?, softer compared to wet wipes produced using generic viscose fabric, and stronger compared to wetlaid fabric, Sapro aims at satisfying the consumers’ needs at the highest level and supporting the natural life cycle. A product of state-of-the-art technology developed by combining Spunlace and Wetlace techniques, Newipe? is produced with 14 percent less carbon emission compared to the other viscose fabrics because some of its components are included in the production process without being subject to any pre-treatment, and the material can completely decompose biologically in nature within a short period of time.

Conveying his thoughts about the funds received by the brand from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Turkish Industrial Development Bank (TSKB), Sapro’s Executive Committee Member and Finance Director Co?kun S Cellek , emphasized that Sapro maintains its pioneer role in export also in environmentally conscious production. Cellek highlighted that sustainability is amongst Sapro’s priorities, and he said, “For a long time, Sapro has been participating in EBRD’s Blue Ribbon program, in which companies can be included only based on invitation in all the countries where EBRD operates, and which aims at supporting companies in making the right choices in the best way possible by offering special financing and industry-specific consultancy solutions, covering operational, managerial and financial consultancy.

The working capital loan that we received for the manufacture of our next-generation viscose fabric proves that the responsible and inclusive management approach we adopt in terms of sustainability, performance criteria, and the management of environmental and social impacts is supported also by international markets. We are thrilled to have achieved this transaction that affirms the solid balance sheet and capital structure of our company.

We also take justified pride in having produced the world’s first next-generation viscose wet wipe, produced by leaving less carbon footprint and which can decompose more rapidly in nature. We attach a great deal of importance to the natural life cycle, giving priority to nature with the purpose of making the world a better place.

Within that scope, we managed to obtain a much softer material with a higher level of endurance, combining two distinct technologies. With Newipe?, the world’s first next-generation sustainable viscose fabric, we pioneer the prevalence of environmentally conscious production standards in the wet wipes market. We maintain our pioneer identity and work within the market also in terms of environmentally conscious manufacture. With our investments, we support growth in our industry, on one hand, and on the other hand, we contribute sustainable production in accordance with world standards.”
