Working With The Big Boys

Working With The Big Boys

?Iconic Steps have partnered with global production company Sweetshop, creating a scheme to place trainees on commercial shoots, and create opportunities to break into the production industry. The scheme is aimed at new entrants, and offers an employment and training opportunity!

Princess recently worked with Sweetshop on the crew of a Boots Opticians shoot, with creative agency The Pharm as a 2nd year Arts and Media student, Princess aspires to be a producer, and wanted to gain professional experience on set. Working with the AD department, Princess was able to get a good understanding of how a professional production runs, describing the opportunity as “stepping up and working with the big boys,” saying she learnt a lot as being a runner allowed her to see everything. Noting that “imagination is different from real life, seeing is believing,” Princess said she was surprised to see the amount of rehearsal and attention to detail that goes into every shot. Expressing her gratitude for the chance to network with crew across every department, Princess said she would have “never gotten an opportunity like this as quickly if it wasn’t for Iconic Steps and Sweetshop.”?

?Theo Youngstein, Producer at Sweetshop, said, “Princess was friendly and helpful, becoming part of the AD team. It was a pleasure to have her on set.” Morgan Whitlock, Executive Producer at Sweetshop, added, “Every new entrant we’ve taken onto set through Iconic Steps has brought a huge amount of energy, passion and drive with them. Creating this pathway doesn’t just benefit these young people’s futures, it makes our productions better right now.”
