Working Across State Agencies to Build a Multisector Plan for Aging
Center for Health Care Strategies
Better care where it's needed most
A multisector plan for aging (MPA) is a framework that state leaders can use to ensure that the needs of older adults and people with disabilities are met over the next decade. An MPA is a state-led, cross-sector effort that promotes a person-centered approach by working across all state agencies and departments to eliminate silos.
To effectively work across state entities, the agency or department tasked with leading MPA development must strategically engage other agencies. This tool shares best practices and tips for how state agencies can work together to build an effective MPA. It outlines key strategies, including state examples, for building cross-agency relationships to advance an MPA. Developed through support from The SCAN Foundation, West Health, and the May & Stanley Smith Charitable Trust, the tool can help states improve the coordination of services and create a more person-centered, equitable system of services.

I am so excited to see "Cross-agency work raises awareness of aging as a lifelong process" as one of the key benefits of cross agency efforts on a MPA. Even more exciting is your inclusion of The National Center to Reframe Aging as a resource and celebration of the MPA work we're doing with states such as Maryland Department of Aging!
