Working abroad - My move to Voith Paper in Tolosa, Spain

The world of paper is a very small and familiar industry. Nevertheless, it has so many options for you as a professional, if you are flexible and open for new things and changes.

As you can see from my profile, I have already worked abroad. During my study ( Sustainable Materials and Product Design (B. & M.Eng.), auch dual / Paper Technology (M.Eng.) ) at Hochschule München I was able to do my internship at Palm Paper Limited in Kings Lynn for 6 months, where I could carry out my first own projects and gain experience focussing on optimization of a modern deinking plant.

Later on, I wrote my Bachelor thesis at Landqart AG in the beautiful Grisons, Switzerland. The world of high security papers, like banknotes and passports, is so different and fascinating that I couldn't turn down the offer of a permanent position as a Process and Project Engineer after I completed my study. After finishing my thesis and study I went back home and packed my things to return.

After 3 years in Switzerland I came back to Germany in January 2017, where I have been working as a Product Manager Process Technology Paper for Voith Paper in the headquarter in Heidenheim. For the last 6 years I have worked here at #Voith and many paper mills together with the best experts in our industry and I have learned from all of you. With our projects we have achieved great successes together and experienced beautiful stories so far.

Anyone following my profile, the hashtag #ExpertInPaper and posts may have noticed that as a Process Technology Manager, I've been involved in many #rebuilds and #conversions. Fulda PM4, UIPSA PM1, PAPRESA PM5, Domtar Kingsport PM1 or Schumacher Packaging Myszkow PM2 just to name a few. More to come...

But now it's time... I will move together with my small family to Spain, to further strengthen the business case Rebuilds and write more success stories together with my colleagues from Voith Paper in #Tolosa. And if you follow me on LinkedIn or #CreatorsAtVoith I will share regularly some updates of my projects and work at Voith as well as some updates about me as an #expat.

We are going to live in one of the most valuable cities in Europe for the next 2 years. Welcome to San Sebastián!

Voith Paper Tolosa facts: Originally founded in 1918 under the name Talleres de Tolosa S.A., the company was acquired by Voith in 1968 and renamed Voith Tolosa S.A.

In 1995, the company was divided by group divisions and Voith Paper S.A. was established. It was relocated to a new location in 2006 with office space and a workshop with machinery, welding and internal assembly. Voith Paper Tolosa is the local papermaking partner for Iberian and southern French customers with local competence to deliver aftermarket solutions from all Voith Paper business devisions. In addition, together with Heidenheim, Tolosa is one of two European Voith sites for paper machine and stock preparation rebuilds for all paper grades.
