Initially, the plan was to start posting on Sunday as usual. But with load-shedding, I might as well do it today. I woke up this morning with a grateful heart and I soon remembered that we are STILL celebrating workers. I managed to sort out my account issue (big girlies duties).
This month we are celebrating the contributions and achievements of workers and renewing our commitment to the ongoing struggle for economic justice and social equality.
I can't help but wonder if we've really made any headway.?Yes, I agree. Do we, however, keep raising the flag high??I don’t think so. I think a lot of people have learned to accept what is going on around them and have normalized it. For example, when I feel like a burden, I keep to myself and focus on the positive. I ignore other things happening around me “as long as ABC is going well". That’s exactly how I feel has happened with many of us- we have accepted our reality.
By turning a blind eye to the large salary discrepancies, we have made it RIGHT. On my way to work a few weeks ago, I encountered an elderly man who was at least my father's age.?He has a family of five and we had a brief discussion about his work. I soon discovered that my salary is higher than his. with much more experience? I felt a little uneasy as he continued talking about how his employer shouts at him EVERY SINGLE DAY like a child (even children don't deserve this).
Then what exactly are YOU celebrating?
My fav workers, domestic workers?

Who spend half of their day in someone’s four walls.
It starts with you, but I want to direct this one to my employers.
Uplifting workers and hearing their voices is an important aspect of creating a positive and productive work environment. It involves recognizing the contributions that workers make to the company and providing them with the support they need to succeed.
Be a nice human. That’s all it takes.
