As we’ve stated on many occasions businesses must protect wealth and reputation - First my condolences go out to the family who lost their loved one.
An investment into Safety Training is a key economic investment. The unforeseen hard and soft costs for this tragic loss of life include:
- Man hour losses due to work stoppage due to investigation;
- Reputation damage to contractor;
- Increased workers’ compensation costs for the next 3 years;
- Defensive attorney costs;
- Project completion date may create penalties.
In closing, Safety Economics is key in business management; therefore, the need to protect the employees, stakeholders and the workplace by the facility owners / contractors in preventing all forms of incidents pays big dividends.
