Are Workday Breaks a Real Thing?

Among the experiences I've had this week was a wonderful lunch with a fellow security professional that I met here. It reminded me that Linkedin is indeed a fruitful source of networking with other professionals.

I'm not sure about you, but there are weeks that go by where I feel utterly swamped in my office. The phone is ringing, emails are popping up repeatedly and operational meetings take over my lunch hour. Obviously we all have a job to do and being busy is a great problem to have. However, I'd like to encourage you to remember to take a break on some days. Get out of your office, meet with someone new, have lunch at a beautiful restaurant or just grab a coffee and decompress for a few moments. You'll come back to your responsibilities having exhaled and be much more apt to accomplish your goals for that day.

Also, in the spirit of practicing what I preach, I'm committing to my Linkedin network in a new way. Once a week I'll take time to meet and network with someone new. Be that coffee, lunch or just a "hi" at someone's office. HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE, FRIENDS.
