Workarounds

Early in my career, we had a vendor who wouldn’t release source code for an antenna array simulator we (U.S. gov.) had purchased.? Fine.? We simply exercised every command emitted from the device and, with the use of a bus analyzer, captured the corresponding bit streams generated.? We then (blindly) emulated said bits from our own devices.? Problem solved with about 2 months effort (mostly involving setting up the equipment).
