Work as we knew it is over. Time to move on.
The pulse of the Gig Economy. Or at least A pulse.

Work as we knew it is over. Time to move on.

I know, I know. I'll take a lot of heat for saying that. But hear me out. If you didn't have to

  1. Sit in traffic for 2 hours a day
  2. Put your physical and mental health last
  3. Miss your family
  4. Waste time in meetings
  5. Play office politics
  6. Accept a salary you don't like
  7. Get ready like its prom night in the morning

Fractional work

Would you? Would anybody? There is no return to work as it was. That's crazy. The genie is out of the bottle. To return to work as it was is to accept a lot of waste, stress, and very limited opportunity. Which, in the land of opportunity, just doesn't fly. How we work after Covid is forever changed. To return to work as we knew it is akin to saying one day we'll return to horses for transportation, blackberries for phones and chopping wood for heat. I get the nostalgia, I do. But I'm also not blinded by it. This is America. There is no going backward. It's not in our DNA. Just forward. It will be messy, difficult and full of friction. Change always is.?

And so the chatter continues.?

Will it by 3 days a week in office, 2 days off? Will we just work from home? Will it be all Zoom from here on out? We think the emphasis is on the wrong syllable there. Return to work isn't about where your booty is. It's about the very culture of work in America. It's about the role work plays in your life. Not the role your life plays in you work. See what we did there? We flipped the script.?

For our part, we envision millions of people, a lot like you, working in fractional roles when the dust settles. Working independently consulting and freelancing. Working in such a way that life is first, work is second. And through that, people bringing the most value to the market they ever have before. This isn't just visions of a shining city on a hill. It's already happening. Millions of workers and businesses are doing this very thing.?

And its working.
