Work in the time of coronavirus
I live in Italy, unfortunately one of the most affected countries by the coronavirus. If the recent practice of social distancing and lock-down measures have taught me one thing, it’s that collaboration is more important than ever. To do my job, I rely on the contact and collaborative work of my colleagues, my customers, and the partner organizations we work with.
I cannot do my job in isolation. Likewise, when it comes to defining what’s next in construction insulation, no company alone can solve the challenges we face. If we are serious about bringing meaningful solutions to market, collaboration is key. We must engage across the value chain in the markets we operate in to understand the different perspectives to then address their specific needs.
One way we are doing this at Dow is through the V Plus Perform? Alliance Program.
Bringing together the voice and expertise from panels manufacturers, architects and green building experts, the program aims at supporting customers and specifiers in responding to the industry’s evolving needs for more sustainable and energy efficient buildings, an area where envelope insulation innovation plays a critical role.
From market insights to technical expertise, R&D capabilities and marketing know-how, we want to provide a collaborative platform and a suite of capabilities enabling the development of insulation solutions that can contribute to environmental, near-zero energy standards in buildings, as well as to the comfort and safety of its occupants.
Through this program, we also aim to address another challenge close to my heart: value chain transparency. Through ingredients mapping and product-specific LCAs we are providing the opportunity for designers and specifiers to make conscious decisions on the contributions of materials and technologies and ensure these helps meet international green building standards.
Collaboration is where innovation begins. Leave me a comment, I’d be keen to explore how we can transform our industry together. In the meantime, please stay safe!
