Work smart with chatGPT - define risks

I see people are worried about chatGPT and other AI tools replacing them in their position. Let's not start Luddite v2.0.

AI tools are helpers, not a replacement for you. I see our future as a close tandem: where human beings would apply creativity and AI?(digital beings) generate wrapping for it, including providing a piece of additional analysis information to support human creativity. We are indeed on the brink of the First Post-Industrial Revolution. Don't google the term I come up with it. Since I think it is more than "yet another stage" of the Digital Revolution (web 1.0 -> web 2.0). Digital Revolution, in short, is a period in history when humanity switched to storing and processing data digitally, from Babbage's Analytical Engine to Big Data nowadays.

This process is unstoppable - let's lead it and make sure it is safe for you and your company.

What to do if you are a manager?

  • play with it and define what practical use-cases chatGPT can be helpful for your team/organization/you personally (just a reminder - it has limited knowledge after 2021);

=> serve it as an input for the next step;

=> speed up your work;

=> help to speed up work for your team.

  • discuss with the Legal and form together team/company guidelines on what information is ok and not ok to share with chatGPT and provide training to the team. We want to minimize the risk of spilling commercially significant information to 3rd party - chatGPT communications can be reviewed by a real human for improving AI training purposes

=> your team members will start using it anyway eventually, better to minimize risks now and give them safeguards before it is too late;

  • revisit your hiring process: is there any step where a candidate can potentially gain an advantage when completing by applying AI? If the answer is "yes" - you know what to do.

What to do if you are any type of engineer in IT

  • play with it to make yourself comfortable with the tool, test its limits

=> it will help to reduce fear and ignite a thinking process for the next step;

  • think where it can improve the speed of work or simplify your life, eg. generate boilerplate code, create document structure for you, write a how-to draft based on provided input

=> ALWAYS check the results, don't blindly copy-paste them. Understand everything that it provides you.

  • discuss with your manager the findings and apply them in daily work. Mind possible legal constraints.

Are any other risks we should minimize for? Would be happy to hear your opinion.
