WorkTech23 in Amsterdam

Reworc attended WorkTech 23.?The?conference is for all those involved in the future of work and the workplace as well as real estate, technology and innovation. We would like to share our 2 main insights:

Is the desk a necessary element of the Hybrid work environment??

"We discussed elements that contribute to good workplace strategies. One of the things that stood out most to me was the agreement that the good old desk is a cumbersome thing. Could an office work entirely without desks? Tables, on the other hand, are practical. You can do a multitude of things on them. Aaron Taylor Harvey showed an excellent solution with bespoke furniture that allows people to use it multifunctionally. Our research shows that the desk is a much-needed element in a proper furniture mix to support various kinds of work. But gone are the days when the desk makes up 80% or more of the office space. It was also nice to hear confirmation of my long-standing conviction that Rooms are good. Some trend-minded architects often criticized our research outcomes because they contained 'so many rooms'?and not enough open space. That always baffled us. But this seems to be a thing of the past."

Cross-functional confirmation of persisting changes in mobility patterns.

"The current 'preferred' mobility patterns of a couple of days working from home or other places and a more or less even amount of working in the office are here to stay. In Reworc's studies, we have seen an apparent convergence of the As-Is split of the time spent in the different locations and the desired To-Be state when they work between 40% and 60% from home. Other data sources, such as various sensor data streams, confirm this. The actual observed behavior neatly matches the self-reported intended behavior. Something that we are always aware of and adjust for accordingly."

Reworc on hybrid work?

Hybrid work can save a person 72 minutes on average per day! It means no daily commute to the office with the occasional traffic jam which - let’s be honest - makes your start of the day unnecessarily stressful.?

In addition, hybrid working can provide more flexibility in terms of scheduling and reducing distractions in the office. By having the ability to work from an environment that suits the type of work better for the employee, they’re able to complete tasks more efficiently and with fewer interruptions than they would in a busy office environment. This can also lead to a better work-life balance, which can improve overall well-being and job satisfaction.

Overall, the time savings that come with hybrid working can have significant benefits like increased productivity, improved work-life balance, and a more engaged and satisfied workforce.?
