Work permits issued under the International Mobility Program by countries in January 2022

Canada approved 24,960 work permits within the framework of the International Mobility Program (IMP) in January 2022. More than one-third of the total was issued to Indian nationals - 9,760 (39.2%). Workers from France and China were the second and third-largest groups with 1,770 (7.1%) and 1,480 (5.9%) IMP work permits approved. The top ten source countries were as following:

1. India - 9,760 (39.2%)
2. France - 1,770 (7.1%)
3. China - 1,480 (5.9%)
4. USA – 1,020 (4.1%)
5. Philippines - 905 (3.6%)
6. Iran - 690 (2.8%)
7. Brazil - 665 (2.7%)
8. Mexico - 660 (2.7%)
9. United Kingdom - 525 (2.1%)
10. South Korea - 425 (1.7%)
11. Others – 6,980 (28.1%)

As for Hong Kong, in January, IRCC issued 395 (1.3%) IMP work permits for Hong Kong foreign workers in 2022.

As for Iran, in January, IRCC issued 690 (2.8%) work permits for Iranian nationals under the IMP.

As for Turkey, in January, IRCC issued 125 (0.5%) work permits for Turkish nationals under the IMP.

As for Vietnam, in January, IRCC issued 335 (1.3%) work permits for Vietnamese nationals under the IMP.
