Work It Out Wednesday- So that's against the rules, and you can't sit with us.
On Wednesdays, we wear pink and I chat about what I see going on in the world of social media and digital marketing. This week, I am going to talk about Facebook groups. Like the elusive lunch tables in high school cafeterias- the different tables and groups are made up of a variety of different types of people with common interests.
I referenced a list of some of the Facebook groups with the largest amount of members. Here are a few from the list:
6.8 million
Public
WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT.
3.3 million
Private
Pantsuit Nation x Supermajority
3.0 million
Private
3.8 million
Public
3.0 million
Public
2.2 million
Public
2.6 million
Public
The majority of the groups listed above are public but there are many groups on Facebook that are private. The different levels of privacy allow for security for members and those who are the administrators to maintain and ensure group guidelines are followed and maintained.
Here are a few quick resources for you regarding finding and joining Facebook groups:
- What happens when you are invited to a Facebook group?
- When someone invites you to a group and that invitation is approved by a member, admin, or moderator, you'll receive a notification that you've been invited to a group. You'll be able to preview the group and decide if you want to join.
- How do you find new groups you might be interested in on Facebook?
- To discover new groups you might be interested in:
- From your News Feed click Groups in the left menu.
- Click Discover to see Suggested for You, Friends' Groups, Categories, Popular Near You, or More Suggestions.
- How do I check the privacy level of a Facebook group?
- You can see if a group is private or public below the name of the group.
- Public: anyone can see who’s in the group and what they post.
- Private: only members can see who’s in the group and what they post.
- To see if a group is private or public:
- From your News Feed, click Groups in the left menu and select your group. If you don't see Groups, click See More.
- You can find the privacy of the group below the group’s name in the top left.
This is all just a little taste about Facebook groups to peak your interest if you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet. If you are in some fun Facebook groups and want to share what you love about them- feel free to do so in a comment below.
