Work-Life Balance and Teamwork in a Remote Company

Although it might sound like I'm simply saying this, I've wanted to work at LottieFiles since I first learned about them four or five years ago. It has been a dream ever since I graduated. It wasn’t just because of the cool stuff they built but also because many of the Maldivian industry professionals I looked up to in my field growing up are working at LottieFiles. Working alongside these talented folks has truly been a privilege.

Time balancing

It’s been a little over a year since I joined LottieFiles, and my experience here has been nothing short of remarkable. It’s my first time working for a fully remote company, and the company culture we’ve built here has been extraordinary.?

After my work here, I’ve become a massive fan of async work. Working when it's easy to focus and not adhering to a rigid schedule has been a game changer. It enabled me to work without compromising my time with my loved ones. I can do both without one interfering with the other.?

Also, I don't feel like additional downtime because I genuinely enjoyed my work and didn't get burnout as often. Without the privilege of flex hours and remote work, I would not have been able to pursue my Master's Degree for sure.

Working as a team!

As I said before, the job's biggest perk is working with the super-talented team we have here. When I say "super-talented," I'm understating how skilled these folks are. From the engineering team to design and marketing, all of them are talented at what they do, and working with them is something I enjoy.?

Communicating with the team has been a breeze. Nobody has unrealistic expectations that the other person must respond immediately. Since we follow the concept of async work, we all respect and accommodate each other's valuable time.

As a Maldivian, it has been a pleasure to be part of our unique and diverse culture. Even though we were from mixed backgrounds, It always felt like one giant family. It amazes me how easy it was just to laugh and joke around with one another. It has been an incredible experience to view the globe through the eyes of folks from the US, UK, Netherlands, Mexico, and all the way from Asia with Malaysia, Korea and so many more!

My career growth

Since we are a startup, things are fast-paced. Regardless, the entire team is kind, respectful, and eager to assist one another. I can quickly approach my team for assistance with an issue I'm facing without hesitation. No matter how often I ask for help, they are always willing to assist in any way they can.

Tackling the challenges while being part of this talented team has also helped me grow my career. The best part is I don’t need to ask for help with the things I work with, and I can just chat about some new technology I’m curious on.

Working at LottieFiles has been a dream and I enjoy working with the talented people over here. Super excited to make motion even simpler and build cool stuff together.
