At one point or another, we are all told to keep balance between work & life. I don't believe in this saying. Why do we need to keep balance between work & life, is it even possible? The answer was actually much simpler, its not possible to keep thoughts out of our brain. The only way you can keep remove a thought is by bringing another one.
Then what does it mean? Why is this important? This means that what we actually needs is a break from dwelling on negative or distracting thoughts so that we can focus on what important at that point of time. Some of us have very good control over their minds & probably don't need any external factor, for others, it might be a nightmare.
For most work is something they do for "making a living" rather than "Living". Which means its stressful, tiring & sometimes painful. This leads to frustration & buildup of negative emotions. So they start taking on hobbies, meditation, travelling and other things which help them in overcoming this stress / frustration. Then there are people who love their work, for them family / personal commitments seem stressful. But unlike the former they can't even complain.
So what is the solution? There is no panacea for all. Each of us needs to think & think hard why they are doing what they are. If you can follow your passion go ahead, if you cannot, start embracing what you are doing. Start appreciating what you already have. Don't commit to something you do not want, weather its work or personal life. And complete what you commit. As for work life balance, its not work life balance, It is stress management. So take it seriously.
