Work-life balance amid this pandemic!

Work-life balance amid this pandemic!

Work-life balance is the middle ground on which an individual equally prioritizes one's career and personal life requirements. Some of the most common factors that usually lead to a low balance between work and energy include:

·      Increased job duties

·      Operating for longer hours

·      More responsibilities at home

·      Underlying health conditions

·      Pre-existing distress

In most of our lives, work and work-related relationships play a vital role. Our monetary income often ensures that the lights remain on, and we have sufficient resources for our livelihood.

In this unpredictable and fast-paced digital era of today, maintaining a work-life balance is no simple job. As we become more and more linked via technology and social media, separating positions from our personal lives is becoming more and more complicated.

Checking emails at all times, taking work-related calls at the dinner table and working on our computers on holidays are typical. Maintaining a work-life balance is different for every individual, but here are some tips which can help you manage it better:

1. Between work, take some time off: While dealing with stress, taking time off helps. The human body is not necessarily prepared or designed to go on for long shifts. Physical resting movements can be beneficial here, like a light walk or some desk exercises. Such short-time breaks will help you recover from fatigue and improve your workplace agility.

2. Accept that there is no perfect/right and stable work-life balance: You probably imagine having an incredibly productive day at work when you hear "work-life balance" and leaving early to spend the other half of the day with good friends and loved ones. While this might seem desirable, it is not always feasible. Do not aim for the ideal timetable; strive for one that is practical.

You might also want to concentrate on the work only on weekdays while fixing the weekends only for physical and emotional rest for yourself – that way you can have more time and more positive energy to follow your hobbies or spend time with your loved ones.

I liked how you have highlighted the fact that there is no ideal timetable or a fixed strategy. Everyone works differently and we all have different demands at work and homes. This is why we should strive for practical solutions rather than following other individuals' timetables and strategies to manage our schedules.
