Work Lessons Incorporated From School

What, in "The real world", do I use from school? The pythagorean theorem? Memorized poems? As strong as my memory is? I was never good memorizing and regurgitating the information. There goes my acting career.

I am more behind the scenes which was also learned in school. Damn those adults for thinking I could only work in their limited confines. They built a castle in the sky and when I tried living there? POOF!

None of which has to do with my job and experience. There are moments of leadership and snap decisions that arise. I waited for others to solve problems and did not like their suggestions. If you want something done right? Do it yourself.

What, I should hire a coach? Not tonight. There are many packages that go from Point A to Point B. It is not good to throw boxes. Many customers order plants. What it is in that box? Dirt. The vertical box comes down the belt horizontally and a lot of dirt falls out.

People order flower arrangements. The boxes are manhandled by some who may not realize a fragile vase is included with the contents. Most of the packages I throw to the machines are not breakable. Envelopes are aerodynamic and they make me glad I honed my craft at...

Shooting Baskets

Small boxes that do not belong are moved with that goose neck as if I were shooting free throws or playing that basketball game at arcades. There are no prizes and I would rather not fall behind. As I pass packages to nearby loaders I use my talents from:

Paper Football

Guess I didn't waste all my time in Study Hall. Passing a package to someone? If it lands half on the belt? It won't impede other packages going further down and the loader receives it at waist level. Try to avoid making them bend over. There are no field goals (my weakness in paper football) and anything to do that lightens the load of my colleagues leads to a more efficient process.

What seemed like a waste of time to teachers leads to confidence in my current position. Lessons come from anywhere and everywhere so remain open. Grades are not the only criteria for success.
