Work From Home? - You should know this !

The current situation in the world has led to many workplaces asking employees to work from home. Here are some ideas to start with.

1. Maintain regular schedule - Your boss may require you to be available during certain times, but hopefully they give you enough flexibility to shift your schedule accordingly. With those good hours in mind, set a time to start and end your designated work hours. If you can avoid it, try not to start working right when you wake up. Give yourself time to eat breakfast, shower and get dressed, just like you would if you were going to an office. If you keep a strict schedule, including sleep, it helps you better manage your work/life boundaries.
2. Tools you’re using matters a lot - When it comes down to it, remote work would not be possible if technology had not advanced such that solid internet connections, better video call platforms, and generally more robust software were not available. So, it’s important to leverage the right technology to make the process smoother. Also make sure, If One person is on video call, EVERYONE should be on video call because big screens are putting in extra effort to read the room, taking away from their ability to contribute to the meeting.
3. Find a better place and check surroundings - When you’re thinking of working from home, you should think about proper place to work. The place should have nice background and most importantly noise free area. If you have separate study area, then it’s a best place. Few things which are really important for long working hours including, clean desk, a comfortable chair and a good internet connectivity.
4. Don’t distract, focus ! - Most important part for working from home is to avoid as much as distraction you can. A very common distraction is people leaving with you and pets. Also, just because you're working from home doesn't mean that you can run out for socializing with guests. Alternatively, keep a time boundary. shut down your laptop and close your day. It's common that when you don't have anyone to talk, you'll end up not getting off your chair for long hours. DON’T DO THAT.
5. Be ready for meetings/calls, so dress up well - Wearing what you want, when you want, it’s just one of the many perks of working from home but it is recommended that the better you look, the better you feel, the better you perform. When you dress up, think about client meeting or conference or toned down for a busy day at your home office. It is observed that at-home employees made, on average, 13.5% more calls per week than their office counterparts, which roughly translated into a whole extra workday every week, all because of a change in scenery.
