Work From Home - An ancient method of visualizing through the divine eyes of Sanjay in this pandemic.
As we all know that world is fighting against Covid-19 pandemic and all governments across the world advocating us to maintaining social distancing and mandating work from home policy for everyone. As a result, remote work become a buzz word now a days and everyone is talking about its productiveness, challenges faced, pros and cons. But I won’t see this as a new buzz word in IT market as it was already there. So, before I start, let’s go back into our history and let me remind you the story of an ancient Indian epic Mahabharata.
"You all must have heard about the “Sanjay”, a character from Mahabharata who was the adviser and charioteer of the King Dhritarashtra. He was given a divine vision of seeing events at a distance granted by Rishi Veda Vyasa, also he acquired the knowledge of seeing past, present and future so he was the first one who narrated the Bhagavad Gita to Dhritarashtra. The king and everybody else, believed that only he could articulate the ruthless message to Pandavs in the politest manner.
When the war finally dawned at Kurukshetra, he agreed to view it on behalf of the king and accepted the post of the commentator for the longest match in the history of test-cricket, the one on a much larger ground, with much deadlier stakes, much higher spirits and much brutal examples of rules breaking. So, he continued the commentary till the end without taking sides, telling nothing but the truth."
So Kurukshetra was battlefield at that time so our battlefield is our workplace/office where we(employees) as a soldier perform our development, testing, management, operations, support tasks etc. to achieve Victory/Goal/Outcome. But what if we both soldier (Mahabharata) and employee(office) are restricted to accomplish our goals due to some natural disaster which is not under control then how can we proceed further. The answer is “Sanjay”.
The present situation already happened before thousands of years ago when Dhritarashtra a blind king was not able to see the battle but with the tool like Sanjay he was able to do so by best utilizing the skills of him. So, he was the one who commanded and used his tool so nicely and effectively.
So, nothing has changed, the ancient method of visualizing and presenting reality through the divine eyes of Sanjay is nothing but our collaboration tools and techniques like Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Skype, Zoom, GoToMeeting, Excel and many more which are efficiently describing the reality and help in connecting with each other.
In work from home style, we rely on these tools for reporting, communication & coordination, recording capabilities, information transparency, clear and precise data and many more.
So, don’t worry we have so many modern Sanjay’s who are available for making remote work fruitful and productive, the only thing is to focus on how to best utilize our respective Sanjay’s by giving them right commands and controls to get the maximum benefit in this pandemic.
Thank you all and cherish the ancient method of doing work from home through your Sanjay. ??
