Work from home also comes with cleaning & cooking from home. My whole day revolves around these three things. Cook, Clean, Work - Repeat!
The fast city lives caved into the food industry, cooked food from local eateries became easily accessible. Tasty, juicy, multi-cuisine food, home delivered with quick taps on the phone; this had become my way of life.
It not only gave me the time to focus on my work but also gave me an option to choose from my favourite paratha’s, Thai food, juicy burgers, and healthy salads.
Corona has changed all that and not just for me but billions of people. Along with me, many women and men have replaced apps with Kadai and phone taps with the slow rotation of the spatula to mix curry.
The “Man” has ventured into Kitchen
The largely female-dominated kitchens are now relatively more gender-neutral. Survival is indeed the strongest motivator.
Men have picked up their aprons, are now watching recipes on youtube, video calling mom’s and friends to get the curry right, posting on social media to share their accomplishments.
India is a country where a woman and her ability to make round rotis and tasty sabzi was and in some capacity still is considered to be her most significant attribute and makes her more desirable for potential suitors. With this positive shift, assigning gender to any work will decrease and give way to a more just society.
Getting millions of men into the Kitchen is no easy feat, many wives have tried and failed, but it is happening now. It is impressive and exciting to envision how future households in India will transform forever.
People Who Make Your Day Better!
A deep understanding and appreciation accompany this whole wave for housemaids, cooks and office boy. The pleasure of receiving hot coffee on the desk is a complete luxury. Getting groceries at doorstep, dusting, cleaning, mopping, sanitisation, cutting and cooking in this heat, is not an easy job. I have a whole new level of respect for the help they provide. Each and everyone in our team misses the on-demand coffee and how easy it made our day. I want to thank all these helpers who have made a significant contribution to making our day productive.
A productive day is good office work & home-work
My definition of a productive day has changed a lot now. Running a house and a company is a 24-hour job. I started applying long terms and short term goals in the Kitchen. Planning and systemization are vital in the Kitchen as well.
Earlier, I used to feel satisfied when I was productive at work, completed my task list, talked to my clients, and managed my team. Now a clean house, a neat kitchen, and full cooking meals have also come into my definition of a productive day.
I admit that it all got a bit overwhelming for me initially, it was difficult for me to stay in one place and do all these things every day. With the lockdown restricting resources and physical movement, my morale and productivity did take a hit.
A routine was the key to sorting it all. Making the most of my day and managing everything became a lot easier when I divided my day into tasks which included both household work and office work.
Managing everything became more straightforward and stress-free. The perfect routine is the remedy to everybody’s lockdown blues. Trust the method and yourself in following through.
We will all be fine, and frankly, we will come out of this with an improved work ethic and the skill and knowledge of a hundred recipes and home-made remedies to clean better, wash better, work smarter, and cook tastier!
