Work Experience: Able Teams
My Entrepreneurship class has now completed our third Challenge. Able Teams, formerly known as Employstream, is a tech startup that creates and specializes in software to streamline the onboarding process for a given company. My teammates Sophia Daher, AJ Sands, Skylar Powley, and I have spent the last three weeks finding a solution to the challenge given to us. Gerald Hetrick, founder and CEO, and Dustin Brewer, VP of product, challenged us to find a new target market. Currently, Able only targets staffing agencies for light industrial jobs or healthcare jobs. After preliminary research, we knew we had to find a new industry that has a large volume of employees and high-velocity hiring. In the final week, we had it narrowed down to prisons and sports stadiums. We also researched deeply into replacing judicial paperwork with software, but we learned that able wanted a market they could immediately go into with their current software. We were fortunate enough to conduct interviews with Kanchan Arya, Talent Acquisition Coordinator at Cavaliers Holdings LLC, and Buffy Filippell, founder and CEO of Teamwork Online. From all the great information from these two interviews, we decided to use stadiums as our solution. The biggest fact that pushed us to go with stadiums was that Kanchan Arya told us about 500-700 part-time employees are hired every year during the peak time period for hiring, which is right before the NBA season starts. That is a large volume of employees and high-velocity hiring. We also suggested that Able target sports stadiums from different major sports to create real consistency instead of just a peak in hiring. Gerald Hetrick was impressed with every group's work, and I am grateful for the opportunity.
