Work Can Be Beautiful!

One day when I was going in to the office I noticed the sky behind my street sign. It was so beautiful and inspiring that I took a picture, and I started to think.?The word “work” has an ominous tone – it can imply drudgery, dread, and stress.?People who work Monday through Friday can hardly wait for the weekend so they don’t have to work.?
However, I have learned that so much of our work experiences are based on our perspective – what we bring to the job. Do we dread it??Are we excited about what we do??Do we enjoy the people we work with, etc.???
When you are at work 8+ hours a day . . . the people you are with become your work family!?Most families have a level of dysfunction, and a work family is no different.?I like to say that “we put the fun in dysfunction.”?As difficult as our businesses/professions might be, there is a certain comradery that occurs among fellow workers.?There is teamwork, a familiarity, and a level of care for others that I have seen over and over.?We understand our people’s quirks and we have fun laughing together.?I'm fortunate as we have a family business and I am not accustomed to a “corporate mentality.”?I hear stories about large corporations treating people as if they are “just a number” but I imagine there is a level of comradery that occurs in large corporations as well.?After all, . . . we are all humans who develop relationships when we're with others for 8 hours (or more) per day!??
Sometimes it might not feel easy to change an attitude/perspective.?This article has some wonderful suggestions.??
We spend more time with our fellow workers than we do with family members, so why not make the best of it and enjoy the day??We have the choice!
