#WordsMatter - Vision

Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper because according to some people, ‘he lacked imagination and had no good ideas’.

Michael Jordan was dropped from his high school basketball team.

Steven Spielberg was rejected both times when he applied to attend film school at the University of Southern California (USC).

But, in the end, they all became successful. Why did they succeed despite facing early setbacks? The answer is that they had a vision in their life. Vision, to me, is a mental picture of the future—a projection of how one envisions life ahead. It serves as the 'why' behind 'what' we do, igniting the drive from inside during moments of doubt.

Understanding the philosophies of Konosuke Matsushita has helped me realise the importance of having a vision. His words strongly emphasised the need to consistently focus on looking at the bigger picture, towards achieving remarkable goals in life and to not stop until the destination is reached.

In Duologues, during my interaction with leaders from different industries, we often got into this topic of vision and how it shapes a leader's journey. It's intriguing to learn from these discussions how leaders perceive vision as an intangible yet crucial asset that propels them towards success.
