Words Real Political Leaders Should Use…

Everyone I know has heard or commented on the many outrageous words and phrases that seem to keep pouring out of Donald Trump’s mouth.  And it is worth noting that he is not alone in terms of saying objectionable things – most of what comes out of Hillary Clinton’s mouth are not much better.  Some people say, “if her lips are moving, the lies are piling up”.

Dealing with this pitiful state of affairs regarding what our nation is able to produce in terms of contenders for its most senior leadership position is a challenge for virtually every American, no matter what side of the political aisle you sit on.  For all too many, the entire Presidential election situation is bewildering and depressing.

So, my question is this.  What is wrong with everyone just trying to get along, despite our differences in opinion or perspective?  If our political leaders would focus more on solid solutions to pressing issues, and not all the political games that are constantly on display, wouldn’t we all be better off?

It would be refreshing, at the least, to hear either one of these “leaders” say something like:

“Look, we are all in this together.  Let’s stop our internal bickering and start working together for the common good.  As your leader, I am going to set the example, beginning immediately.  Let’s join together and stop with the win-lose rhetoric and start focusing on what made this country what we all want it to be – a free country, with respect for the rule of law and respect for one another, with liberty and equal justice for all.”

Who cares, really, about color of skin or accent, or religious expression?  So long as we focus on peace, prosperity, learning, caring for our families, being willing to honestly see another’s point of view without protesting or diminishing that expression.  Get rid of the private agendas and start thinking about positive ways we can be more united, more caring, and more prosperous together.  These are the kind of things we need to be thinking about and doing more of.  We need to stop fighting amongst ourselves and start helping each other, becoming united behind our common moral and religious values and leave the fighting to contending against those who kill, steal, lie, cheat, and otherwise try to harm us.

Let’s get our collective act together and start requiring more unity, integrity, common sense, and good judgement from our leaders.
