Words are like keys, the right one opens any lock!

It is always said that words are like keys of the copywriter, because they create the magic only with the proper use of words in the right terms and references. Words are equal but some words are more equal than the others.

We know that certain power words that hold more sway over our decision making process than others and remember how the great orators of the world are using their words so effectively to convince the masses, or even the best editors of great magazines and newspapers do write their editorials with so many powerful words which make the short brief into a magnificent looking statement of wisdom.

It is always said that pen is mightier than sword as simple words written in the right context create such powerful copy that can change the face of the world or even start of stop wars. Consider that whatever is being said or told to us by mere words leaves such a lasting impression on our mind. Strong words can destroy , break your heart or shatter yourself into pieces and on the other hand it can also make you so feel so special and important.

The context in which simple words used can act as catalyst in bringing so much meaning into the terms used by us very normally. The same words if used wisely can shut any blabbering mouth or can also open any heart so difficult to normally convince.

I always admire the poets because they pack so much meaning in very few words used in the poem. Read every line of a poem, it consists of a phrase which describes a certain feeling. In this particular type of poem the emphasis is put on the words used to describe an impression or emotion, and not so much even on the writing of complete sentences.

Look at these beautiful words used in a poem..."The Lonely wordsmith"

My words fall upon deaf ears

I might be blinded by my love for you

but you are deafened by your love for him

I write you poem after poem after poem

and you are his after just a few words

I could tell you in ten words,

what he couldn't in a thousand

and I could write a thousand words for you

in the time he could barely say ten

but you are his, and he is yours

and I just sit here, an observer

You are my muse and perhaps it is for the best...

that I sit here, the lonely wordsmith

until the day I give up and become just another lost soul

wishing things were different

and so here I am, the lonely wordsmith

writing yet another poem you will never care to read

how powerfully the lonely wordsmith has expressed his feeling to his beloved in so few yet powerful words that convey deep meaning of a true lover.

In a poem titled ‘Tongue’ by Arundhati Subramaniam in her latest collection "Love Without a Story" (Context/Westland) —her fourth book of poems to date — she writes: “The man in front of me / is reading / a balance sheet. // He is smiling, his gaze / shimmying between columns, / effortlessly / bilingual.” how effectively she used these common terms of an accountant.

The tongue is alone and tethered in its mouth,” wrote John Berger. It is in “the ways of seeing”, and in the ways words and mother tongues are articulated that the essential spine of poetry is formed. Her new poetry is marked by a sense of familial intimacy and kinship, by a quest for a secular god and faith, one that is “animated by dialogue and dissent, delirium and silence”.

We have often seen that the poets harbour key qualities that make for easier incorporation particularly how well to take feedback and rejection. Poets usually trade feedback (workshop) with other poets before a work is deemed finished. Then, we get rejected by dozens of literary journals. It’s not masochism; it’s part of our creative process. We know how to be concise: As Samuel Taylor Coleridge wisely mused, “I wish our clever young poets would remember my homely definitions of prose and poetry; that is, prose = words in their best order; wherea poetry is the best words in their best order.”

Poets think associatively as a poet’s brain is a collision of words and images which they visualise and map a task the minute it’s assigned and they also love metaphors for them it is very similar to how we love our normal coffee — complex, but uncomplicated, full-bodied, and rich. Poets are also self-editors as they write and rewrite sometimes write too much and sometimes too less but by the time our work gets noticed it is already giving them a high on their own. Words are powerful if we use them instinctively and honestly from the heart they convey much more in the unsaid words and those who can read between lines the unsaid words and pauses too carry lot of deep meaning. Kishore Shintre , absolutely agree. We as adults are responsible for our words and actions. Choice of words, tone of voice and body language is very important.
