A word about reading

I am afraid that busy managers do not read enough. They are too preoccupied, or the text just isn’t engaging enough.

Let me share with you the reasons why you should read more.

Reading is an intellectual effort. If you read a wide variety of subjects, you develop an augmented reality within your mind that develops your own creativity and capabilities to innovative. Let me explain: the intersection of ideas, concepts, and insights that you develop while reading is the springboard for the way you observe and conceptualize the complex environments you live and work in.

Managers who read across a variety of fields claim they are given a unique opportunity to have an intimate “chat” with a smart person whom they would otherwise never “meet”. It provides in-depth knowledge from multiple perspectives. It increases your curiosity and reason methods. It makes you more aware that life is not simple, and that there is no “good” or “bad”. Hence, there are not any black and white solutions. It will enrich your vocabulary professionally and personally. It will give you many opportunities to discuss topics with colleagues who will admire your knowledge, which is, essentially, your reputation.

While reading, you will have an inner debate that encourages the generation of new ideas. And it will become part of your thinking that you'll carry forward.
