Last Mile Talent
Last Mile Talent recruits superstars for the next generation of Last Mile tech unicorns.
A Word From Our Founders, Lewis Michael Howard and Simon Richardson
After a turbulent and frankly frightening Q3, Q4 seems to have found its feet in terms of recruitment in (parts of) the last mile sector.
You will all have read many ominous reports about living standards, a drop in expectations about upward job moves or salary increases, and, of course, the unprecedented layoff of tech talent. These factors and many others put recruitment activity in Q3 into deep freeze.
Q4 feels better. Some brave companies are putting on their big-boy pants and making conservative headcount growth decisions. There are plenty of suddenly unemployed candidates available for opportunistic hiring managers. Top-quality candidates, the ones hit-up daily by recruiters and receiving offers apparently with ease, have also been brought back down to earth - individuals who wouldn't consider your company six months ago are now taking a second look. We've seen some big names moving from IPO-stage companies back to well-financed start-ups.
Sub-sectors that are most well situated for the coming winter months in our view are eCommerce Logistics (3PL & 4PL), Warehouse Robotics, EV-ChargeTech, Circular Marketplaces, and PUDO / APM manufacturers. Consumers will be staying home and looking for cheap deals. Enterprises will seek efficiencies in warehousing and delivery. Pop-up merchants will be seeking plug-and-play infrastructure to get their side hustles moving. The VCs, reeling from the fact that debt is no longer free, are still selecting investment candidates in these areas. This is where the recruitment action will be through Q1 2023.?
