Word from the CEO - December 2024
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." ? (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Dear Friends,
In this past Thanksgiving season, we were again reminded of our blessings and God’s faithfulness. We are deeply grateful for your generosity, prayers, and encouragement, which empower us to impact lives worldwide. Thank you for being a blessing to us and those we serve!
This year has been a journey marked by God’s goodness and the strength of our global community. Together, we have witnessed incredible moments of impact, celebrated milestones, and advanced justice for the vulnerable worldwide. Here are a few highlights:
·??????? Fundraising Banquet – This special event, held at the end of October in Springfield, Virginia - where Sam Ericsson founded Advocates International at his home church, Immanuel Bible Church - was a profound celebration of our mission. It connected our dedicated volunteers with global network partners and featured inspiring testimonies from international speakers. The event also introduced Advocates International’s work to a wider audience, expanding its community of supporters.
·??????? Global Council Meeting – This year, representatives and friends from 12 nations gathered to advance their shared vision and deepen their impact. The meeting focused on strategic reflection of the organization’s 33-year legacy and planning for the future.
·??????? Exploring Washington DC – Hosting so many international visitors in the US capital presented a wonderful opportunity to introduce them to America’s rich judicial and Christian heritage. Rev. Bernie Beall shared his wealth of knowledge as he guided our guests through the fascinating Museum of the Bible, the US Supreme Court, and the Capitol Building, leaving the visitors inspired by the profound legacy of faith and justice woven into the nation’s story.
·??????? Empowering advocates globally – At the annual Christian Legal Society Conference, held in Washington DC at the end of October, Ugandan Supreme Court Justice and Global Council member Mike Chibita inspired attendees as a plenary speaker, while Board Chairman Prof. Jeff Brauch and I led a workshop on “Combatting Religious-Based Violence in Africa.” Board member Ben Bull shared critical insights into sex trafficking law. At our exhibit table, many legal professionals could learn more about the organization’s activities and how they could get involved.
·??????? Praying for America at the Lincoln Memorial – On election day, a small group of us from Advocates International gathered inside the Lincoln memorial to intercede for the United States praying for wisdom, unity, and justice, seeking God’s guidance and peace for the nation’s leaders and citizens.
·??????? Testimonies and milestones – It’s always a joy to share testimonies from our network of justice-driven professionals with you. This past month, we highlighted the inspiring story of Selvi Ganesh. (See our LinkedIn platform). Her unwavering faith and deep conviction that she is a vessel of God’s work, propels her to confront systemic injustices and advocate for the oppressed in her homeland of India. We are honoured to support her incredible mission.
·??????? Similarly, it’s a delight to celebrate milestones within our network. On November 23, Advocates France Juristes et Chrétiens commemorated its 20th anniversary. This momentous occasion brought together members, esteemed friends, and guests to honour and glorify God for two decades of His faithfulness. It was a time of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to advancing justice with compassion in France and beyond. We congratulate Nancy Lefevre and her team on this special anniversary and pray that Advocates France will go from strength to strength!???????
