The word "no" felt like an unspoken curse

As Halloween approaches, with its enchanting aura of spookiness and delight, it's the perfect time for stories that unveil our deepest emotions and desires. And today, I want to share a tale that's bound to resonate with many, especially during this bewitching season.
Picture a young version of me, eager to make the world a better place. I would go to great lengths for others, often at the expense of my own well-being. The word "no" felt like an unspoken curse. I carried the weight of guilt, even when it wasn't mine to bear.
But let me take you back a bit further, to when the seeds of this guilt were planted. I reached a profound understanding through journaling—a method that became my lantern in the dark, guiding me through the labyrinth of my emotions.
I discovered that the roots of my guilt stretched deep into my past. My mother, a wonderful woman with good intentions, inadvertently sowed these seeds. She would emotionally blackmail me into doing things to avoid missing out on opportunities. Over time, this evolved into a powerful sense of duty to ensure others didn't miss out on life's offerings.
This desire to prevent others from missing out began to spill into my professional life. I put the needs and opportunities of others above my own, even at the detriment of my progress and well-being—the guilt of saying "no" haunted me.
But I didn't stop at self-discovery. I used that journaling method to unearth these feelings and find ways to navigate them. I learned that the guilt was deeply ingrained but could be conquered. It was time to let go of the burden holding me back.
And now, as you stand on the threshold of Halloween, a season where masks are worn, secrets are revealed, and transformations occur, I have a special treat for you. It's not a sweet treat, but something even more extraordinary.
