A Word About Color

I love words. I enjoy the process of putting them together to create meaning, to communicate and sometimes to entertain. We can pick and choose just the right words for a given sentiment or message. Words not only carry their original meaning, but often we attach past experiences to our words, we begin to associate a word with an event or experience. Sometimes, we use them to hurt or demean. But the fact remains, a word is a word is a word.
If I have red hair or blond hair, does that mean that somehow my hair color translates to the kind of person that I am, or that I am somehow bad for having different color hair than you have? Most importantly, does my hair color mean that I am a bad person? Of course not.
So why do we judge people by the color of their skin? Read more....
