The Woodlander Initiative

So many busy professionals tell me they don't have time to eat well.

As you would expect, I entirely disagree!

How we spend time is our own choice yet few realise the health implications and consequences of living in the fast lane.

Even when I was working stupidly long hours (kidding myself that I was super woman and could manage everything that was thrown at me), I took the time at weekends to batch prepare healthy meals for the family during the week.

I say healthy. I mean healthy in terms of what I knew about natural health and wellbeing at that point in my life.

Moving on several years and transitioning from a burned out CEO and COO of professional services organisations, to an advanced level nutritionist and biohacker who learns every day another hack on how to maintain optimal health, I appreciate the importance of growing our own vegetables which has never been more important to our health and wellbeing.

Super processed foods, toxic environments at home and at work, and air pollution means that even organic food can be tainted.

What's the Solution?

I recently wrote an article about how I was transforming my garden to achieve an easy low effort, low maintenance environment (entitled from Designer to Wheelbarrow).

In just a few weeks here is a small sample of what I've achieved by growing in pots, as the soil here in The Algarve is too rocky:

I host a facebook group and one of our members Gary Sharpe wrote an article about the potential dystopian future ahead of us. The article references The Woodland Initiative whereby land is collectively purchased for good. It's an interesting read and worth a few minutes of your time.

Going Back to our Roots

As a young child, I helped granddad to sow, nurture and harvest crops on the allotment. Some of the lessons I learned are now being used in my own simple garden arrangement.

Let's get back to basics by living a simple life, growing our own food, being frugal with resources, kind and respectful to each other and enjoying a good sing song and laughter with our friends and family.

An easy way to grow your own, even if you live in an apartment with no garden access, is to consider an aoerponic tower garden . I'm ordering my tower garden next week so that I can continue growing my own veggies even in the rainy season.

How you choose to spend your money or your time is up to you. However, please be aware that your body will reward you either positively or negatively!

If you think looking after your health is expensive, try the alternative - medical bills or funeral costs!
