Fujifilm is very proud to sponsor the Fujifilm Fellowship program at Harvard Medical School (HMS) since 2019. Since its inception, 41 HMS Therapeutics Graduate Program (TGP) Ph.D. students from around the world have been awarded fellowships supporting their work to advance therapeutics discovery, development, and applications to improve the treatment of disease.?
On October 17, Fujifilm representatives from R&D and the Life Sciences Strategic Business Office had the honor to meet Fujifilm Fellows and HMS administrators at a symposium and poster session in Boston.??
The annual symposium was organized by the TGP and designed under the theme of “Utilizing Computation, Bioinformatics, and AI in Therapeutics Development.”??
After opening remarks by David E. Golan, M.D., Ph.D., TGP Faculty Director and Dean for Research Initiatives and Global Programs at Harvard Medical School, up next was FUJIFILM Corporation’s Takeshi Yamamoto, corporate?vice?president, deputy?general manager, Life Sciences Strategy Headquarters and general manager, Bio Science & Engineering Laboratories.???
In addition to his description of Fujifilm’s activities and operations in life sciences, Yamamoto talked about R&D topics including lipid nanoparticle (LNP) mRNA technology, scalable cell and gene therapy technology, and AI/digital transformation for biopharmaceutical product development.??
Over six hours, presentations from not only Harvard (students and faculty) but also the tech industry described cutting-edge research and thoughts focusing on the AI revolution in therapeutics development.???
During the poster session that followed, Fujifilm representatives enjoyed speaking face-to-face with the Fujifilm Fellowship recipients to learn about the students and their research.??
