March has just arrived, welcoming us with Women's History Month. Today, I can't help but think of all the women across the globe who came before us, those who live today, and all those yet to come. Our ancestors, too many of whom didn't have the chance to express their full potential, to dream up a better life and live up to their dreams, were caught in systems that did not provide them with basic rights—to vote, to study, to move and explore freely. Too often dependent on the mood of their husbands, too often denied the basic right to be themselves and speak their truth.

I feel like many of them were also in my family: manipulated, abused, not heard, suffering immense pain, losing what they had worked for so much. I know there are many also in your families, the unknown creators, artists, entrepreneurs, mothers, godmothers, aunties, scientists, born with brilliant ideas that never had a chance to see the light of sunrise.

I salute you all. For your strength and resilience.

But this, my friends, doesn’t seem like a very faraway tale, long forgotten. This is the reality for many women today, and not just women. I feel like this is the reality of many individuals who, for whatever reason, are bullied, manipulated, not accepted, not allowed to go to school, denied basic rights, stripped of dignity while fighting for their lives. This applies to every individual who has ever felt discriminated against in any form or shape. And this happens everywhere in the world.

History echoes itself in the walls of the world, probably screaming for a lasting positive change.

Thankfully, as in every tale, there is hope for us individually and collectively. But hope itself is not enough. Have you ever tried to feed your family with hope for breakfast? Hope means nothing, because what we truly need is action, not empty words of empowerment filling our social media feeds, not a tap on the back for being brave and courageous enough for taking yet another hit.

We need action, we need people to stand up and speak up, and because I'm the creative one, here are a few examples of how you can do it this month and beyond, so there will never again be a generation of girls to come who are not able to live their full potential:

  1. Speak up (of course, make sure that you're safe yourself while doing so). When you see manipulation, narcissistic behavior, any form of abuse, scam, gaslighting, belittling, etc. It goes a long way.
  2. Support women. Hire her with the same salary you would give to a person with a penis, buy her products and services, promote her.
  3. Give her access to everything she needs to excel: quality education, material resources, etc.
  4. Invest in her business ideas and businesses - studies have shown that businesses run by women generate more revenue and last longer.
  5. Educate others about gender equality and the importance of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of society.
  6. Mentor or sponsor a woman or girl in your field of expertise. Share your knowledge, experience, and networks to help her grow.
  7. Challenge stereotypes and biases in your own behavior, in your home, workplace, and community. Advocate for policies and practices that promote equality.
  8. Celebrate women's achievements openly, making sure to highlight the contributions of women in history and in modern times to inspire the next generation.
  9. Fill in the blank. Be creative and come up with your own ways to support and uplift women.

I can't even imagine that future generations will have to live in a world where their potential is defined by a single differing chromosome...

Yes! I think we should celebrate everyday… by the way when I think about technology, I’m thinking about Hedy Lamarr, a tech pioneer ???♀? forming the basis of today’s Wifi, GPS and Bluetooth systems. As a woman in tech myself I love interacting with smart and motivated women changing the world day by day, like you and us all in the game! ??♀???
