Women’s Transformation
Over the last hundred and seventy-one years, women’s issues have been in the spotlight. In 1848, the first women's rights convention took place at Seneca Falls, New York. Equal rights and women’s suffrage are still major buzz words today, as American Congresswomen wore “suffragist-white” to symbolize women’s rights at the 2019 State of the Union address.
While I do not condone sexual discrimination, whether against women or men, could it be that, while we as women have been so busy demanding the perceived rights and respect enjoyed by men, we’re missing the point?
After one hundred seventy-one years of trying, it would appear we can’t hope to gain equality and respect from without. What about cultivating self-respect and honoring of our gifts and differences as women – from within? What do we have to bring to the equation that can not only transform our personal lives, but the world?
What would happen if we shifted our approach from one of demanding equality and respect, to one of showing up and becoming the change we wish to see? Could the resulting introduction of feminine wisdom benefit both men and women if we do?
