24% Attendance growth in top European women’s leagues
Average attendance in Europe’s top four women’s soccer leagues grew by 24 percent in the 2023/24 season. England’s WSL led with a 41 percent increase, helped by larger venues like Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal drew significant crowds. France’s D1 Féminine followed with a 38 percent rise, while Spain’s Liga F and Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga saw more moderate gains. Despite the smaller growth in Germany, fewer games had low attendance, and overall attendance held steady through the season.
EA Sports to include PWHL teams and players in NHL 25
The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has partnered with EA Sports to feature its teams and branding in the NHL 25 video game starting December 5th. Fans will be able to play as PWHL teams like the Boston Fleet and Toronto Sceptres across various game modes. This partnership amplifies the league's visibility, following a successful inaugural season with strong attendance and major sponsorships. The PWHL and EA aim to broaden women’s hockey’s reach and fan engagement globally.
