Women's History Month

Women's History Month

Throughout my life, I am grateful for the guidance that I received from women - both personal and professional - that contributed to my personal and professional development.

Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day really resonate with me as we commemorate, honor and acknowledge the legacies of the women trailblazers who led the way for future generations of women to find success. It’s a time for me to? reflect on the women who inspired my personal and career growth and fueled my passion for helping women and girls advance their careers.??

Having my career journey lead to my current role at Verizon fills me with pride. The company prides itself on developing and advancing women in leadership roles and there are many? opportunities for female employees to connect, share best practices, network and grow.?

  • Verizon WAVE (Women’s Association of Verizon Employees), an Employee Resource Group over 13,000 members strong, is committed to cultivating the advancement and professional development of women within Verizon, our local communities and across industries.?
  • Women of the World Connect (WOW), a program delivered in connection with Verizon WAVE, aims to create a lasting impact, enabling women to thrive personally and professionally.

During my time here, I’ve been free?to pursue my goal of supporting women in the workplace by founding and leading two programs near and dear to my heart:

  • Women of Influence: Designed to empower women within Verizon and unlock their leadership potential.?
  • Women In Tech: Dedicated to identifying and nurturing the next generation of female technology leaders through specialized training and workshops.

My advice for women? is that you never know when? opportunities for personal growth and advancement will arise.. No matter where you are in your career,? take advantage of an opportunity and run with it! If you are in a position to seek guidance, find a trusted advisor or mentor for advice. If you are in a leadership role, pay it forward and inspire the next generation.?

This month, while we acknowledge and celebrate our history, it is also important to remember that dedicating time, resources and effort to advancing women continues all year long.
