Women's History Month
March is a busy month at Nationwide and across the country as we recognize the contributions of women past and present for their impact to our business, communities and families.
This month, Nationwide Associate Resource Groups and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion used social media and hosted various events to highlight women who have made, and continue to make, significant contributions to Nationwide. For example, our “For Women, From Women” campaign featured Nationwide associates sharing what it’s like to be a woman in their career and what advice they offer to others. You can view the posts, videos and inspiring conversations on Nationwide’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages or at: https://www.instagram.com/nationwide/?hl=en.
Also during the month:
- Catalyst, an organization that helps companies promote inclusive cultures that work for all, held their #biascorrect campaign – promoting awareness, conversation and action on unconscious bias. I was proud to join other leaders as we showed the power of words.
- Additionally, several Nationwide leaders attended the 2019 Catalyst Awards ceremony, recognizing organizations whose innovative initiatives are advancing talent and promoting women in leadership. Congratulations to Bank of America, Deutsche Post DHL Group, Eli Lilly and Company, and Schneider Electric on winning this prestigious award. Nationwiders were extremely proud when we were recognized last year.
- I was honored to speak at AutoZone’s International Women’s Day Event. The theme was #BalanceForBetter and it was an extraordinary day in Memphis with their women’s business resource group AZ WIN. Congratulations to CEO Bill Rhodes, AZ WIN, executive sponsor Kristin Wright, and all of the ladies who made the event incredible with every associate engaged. I’m so proud to be a member of the board of this caring company.
- Nationwide recently attended the 2019 Great Place to Work For All summit in San Francisco, where we were recognized as a great place to work and honored to be among such great companies who understand the value of culture to drive results.
It has been a busy month as we continue to deliver on the promise to our members and also take a moment to recognize the contributions of women to business success. Here’s to every woman who is making a difference for their organization and family – we see you, we applaud you and we thank you!
