Women's History Month: Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories
At Pure Storage, we work among some of the brightest and most talented women in our industry. We are committed to ensuring representation, building equity, and building an inclusive culture. Meet a few of our women at Pure that we are celebrating in honor of Women's History Month:
Amy Fowler is Pure's VP & GM of FlashBlade Strategy & Operations. Amy is a global business leader with 20 years of experience building and running cross-functional teams across a number of facets of an organization, including sales and sales operations, product marketing and solutions, and go-to-market strategy and operations.
Felissa Martinez was born and raised in the Bay Area, California. Raised by her Mother of Japanese descent and her Father of Native American, Spanish, and German descent. Felissa graduated in 2008 from San Jose State University with a Bachelor's of Science in International Business and Japanese Linguistics; she knew her purpose of life was to not only care for her parents the way they had for her, but to also make an impact for all women of diversity.?
Felissa joined Pure Storage in 2018 as a member of the Subscription Services Team where she then managed to grow the business over 30% YoY and the organization to be 10% of Pure's overall Bookings. In March 2020, she was the first Woman to be awarded the "Hard Hat" award, and in 2022, had the honor to interview Jennifer Hudson for Pure's Sales Kick Off Conference (SKO). As a woman of diversity, Felissa has developed her career as Senior Director with aspirations to continue to be an example for all, while now managing a World Wide Team, continuing to raise the bar of Leadership, ARR, Bookings, and the overall strategic growth of Pure!?

I started my career as a software developer at Cisco and moved to a manager role 6 years in. I never thought I was "leadership material" but this changed after I had the opportunity to mentor some women in my team and I found I enjoyed the responsibility.?
After an 8 year stint at Cisco, I moved to Pure Storage and started as an Engineering Manager on the FlashBlade UI team. Over the next few years, I switched teams and took on more responsibilities progressively. I have worked for or with almost every Business Unit at Pure. This has definitely helped me build a vast and varied network here. It has also given me insight into different problem spaces across the company.
Cut to 7 years later - I am now a Director of Engineering and manage a diverse portfolio across the FlashBlade Foundation Control Path and Data Path teams. My day to day job includes learning from the people on my team and spotting and fixing problems early.
I've gotten more from my career at Pure than I could have ever predicted and hope to keep this going!
