On Women's day…

I propose a eulogy to an inspirational woman, a friend of the family, who passed away in the last few days. 

Ann Riordan

Also a chairperson of Science foundation Ireland, she notably established Microsoft Ireland in 1990 and was instrumental in establishing the Fastrack to IT (FIT) initiative which has to date trained over 12,000 long-term unemployed people. She has served on the Information Society Steering Committee and the Irish Council for Science, Technology & Innovation. Since her retirement from Microsoft she served as: President of the Institute of Directors in Ireland; Chairman of the National Standards Authority of Ireland; Chairman of Tourism Ireland; Chairman of the Dublin Regional Tourism Authority and as a public interest director of the EBS Building Society.

(née Kelly) (Donnybrook, Knocklyon, and formerly Churchtown, Dublin) 5th March 2021, peacefully at home, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family, beloved mother of Lisa and John and cherished Nana- Anna to Amy, Harry, Regan and Seán; sadly missed by her loving son, daughter, Lisa’s partner Christian, daughter-in-law Caitriona, grandchildren, her brothers and sisters and their spouses, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.
