Dear WiBD India Community Members,

Our Executive Council Member, Meenakshi Arun Subramanian has penned a few inspiring words for all of you for Women's Day!

Meenakshi Arun Subramanian

"Your brilliance deserves no boundaries. As women in big data, you're not just enabling insights — you're reshaping industries while defining success on your own terms.

Pursue leadership and innovation fiercely, but remember that protecting your wellbeing isn't compromise—it's wisdom.

Decline anything that drains without fulfilling, set boundaries without justification, and celebrate both career milestones and personal joys with equal pride. Your worth isn't measured in overtime hours, but in the impact of your presence and the quality of your contributions.

Claim space for ambition and rest without apology. The world needs not just your technical and leadership expertise, but your sustainable, authentic wholeness.

Take charge, fly high, and transform not just the world of data, but also expectations of us as women Define and live YOUR meaning of success."

Hiring skilled women on an upswing with GCCs

There is a growing commitment of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India to address gender disparity in the tech industry.

  • Women currently make up less than one-third of the global tech workforce, and only 18–19% hold executive roles.
  • Barriers like gender bias, lack of mentorship, and limited access to professional development contribute to high attrition rates for women in tech. Despite these challenges, the IT sector in India is expected to see a 12% growth in the women workforce by the end of 2025.
  • GCCs are driving this change, with 61% of companies projecting a 50%+ increase in women hires by 2030. In the next 12 months, 7% of GCCs expect a 50%+ surge, and 28% anticipate a 20–50% rise.
  • Cities like Delhi/NCR, Chennai, and Bengaluru are leading this push, with Delhi/NCR having 77% of GCCs expecting a 50%+ growth in women hires.
  • Sustained efforts in hiring, mentorship, and leadership roles are critical to ensuring diversity becomes a core part of the tech workforce.
