As Women’s Day recently passed, I find myself reflecting on its significance. While it’s a day dedicated to celebrating women across various walks of life, I harbor mixed feelings. Strong, independent women may not necessarily seek this type of acknowledgment. However, let’s delve deeper into what Women’s Day truly represents.
The Distorted Versions of Women’s Day
Ask five people what Women’s Day means, and you’ll likely receive five different answers. The concept of feminism and Women’s Day has become multifaceted, often distorted by varying interpretations. But at its core, what is it really?
Mutual Respect as Humans
Women’s Day transcends gender boundaries. It’s about recognizing our shared humanity—the fact that we are the most evolved beings on this planet. Allow me to draw an analogy from my past: Kaizzad Capadia, An individual with the most unbiased and scientific bent of mind which not only transcended his field of nutrition and exercise science but also all walks of life, used to say that animals instinctively know what to eat. Horses graze on what nourishes them, and lions hunt their natural prey. It’s us humans who grapple with confusion over our dietary choices.
Similarly, the many versions of Women’s Day have blurred our understanding, I feel. It should be about mutual respect, irrespective of gender. When we treat each other with kindness and empathy, we elevate ourselves as a species.

Strong Women and Their Journey
A woman at the pinnacle of her career faces naysayers, doubters, and countless rejections. Yet, she persists. She’s human, and the negativity affects her, but she knows how to rise above it. Strong women dust themselves off, defy the odds, and keep moving forward.
A Plea to All Humans & A Call to Action
So, here’s my request to all of us—regardless of gender: Treat each other with respect. Extend a helping hand to foster growth. This act doesn’t diminish you; it ONLY enriches you. True value lies in lifting others up, not tearing them down.
Let’s champion true equality, kindness, and respect. When you encounter a strong, independent woman, be her ally. Encourage her growth, learn from her experiences, and refrain from backstabbing or gossip. Let our words uplift, not wound.
Remember, the essence of Women’s Day lies in celebrating our shared humanity. Let’s make every day a Women’s Day—a day when we honor the strength, resilience, and contributions of all women.
