WOMEN’S DAY - THE MEN WAY

WOMEN’S DAY - THE MEN WAY

“The best thermometer to the progress of a nation is?its treatment of its women.”

?“There is no chance for the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved.”

?These are the great thoughts of a great Indian Philosopher Swami Vivekanand ji?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

In a world where Men and Women Co- exist, it is extremely essen/tial that Men play a major role in understanding Women’s perspective.

?8th March 2023 - The International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.

Through this article I would like to project Men’s thoughts and views regarding Women. Men I believe should be equally participating in Women’s Day celebration.

From early days we have seen Men going that extra mile to support Women in their lives. Talking of 1800, it one such person who’s phenomenal support changed the entire story. ?Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule who educated, Sagunabai Shirsagar, his cousin sister and his wife Savitribai, as she was illiterate at the time of her marriage. After completing her primary education with Jyotirao, her further education was the responsibility of his friends, Sakharam Yeshwant Paranjpe and Keshav Shivram Bhavalkar. Savitribai may have been the first Indian woman teacher and headmistress.

?

This is a great example of how a Man need to a respect a woman , help her, support her in achieving her dreams , care for her, love her ,definitely NOT because she is a WOMAN but because she is ?equal as human as a Man and she is has all the rights a man would have and she too would do the same.

?Sharing his views on Woman’s Day Colonel Samrendra Mohan Kumar, Co-founder & MD, MitKat Advisory says “Encourage Meritocracy - we are diverse because we are meritocratic. Remove artificial barriers to entry. Level the playing field”.

Do not educate only the girls; more importantly groom your boys. This is particularly applicable to the patriarchal, feudal societies.: There has to be a conscious attempt at eliminating unconscious biases. At a recent event by MitKat Advisory, a leading global risk consultancy, title WISER (Women in Intelligence, Security, EHS & Resilience) 2023, one of the global leaders noted, “Job descriptions should focus on desired skills and outcomes; not on background (eg, ex-military or law enforcement), gender etc.”

?Such a powerful thought indeed. When it comes to especially jobs, there should not be any discrimination, as it reminds me of the story of how ?Sudha Murthyji became the first woman engineer of her village Shiggaon and went on to become the first female engineer at TELCO. How she had written a post card to J RD Tata complaining about the advertisement stating ‘Only Male ‘ policy and had bagged the job subsequently on her merit and then there was no looking back for her.

?There can be many perspectives of how one looks at a situation, but the basics of respecting a Woman needs to be followed at any cost by every Man.

?Sharing his views from a very different perspective, Amit (Rj Amit) Wadhwaji,

10 x Podcast Host, Storyteller, Radio Professional, Voice Actor, Voice over Artist, Podcast Mentor says , “ According to my understanding, women in our country are called Shakti or Shiv-Shakti. Like in my profession, even today, in any meeting or gathering we address the crowd as , “Deviyon aur Sajjanon” i.e ?“Ladies and Gentlemen”. Devi means those who are considered as goddess even today. The question is why the need for empowerment of the Shakti was felt?

?The allegation seems to be on the men that they suppressed the rights of women to give more recognition to their muscle power ( to be called Bahubali) and there are evidences for this. Although in the movie we have experienced that the Hero has shown equal respect to both the important women in his life. (His mother and wife) and thus he was the first choice as the King of Praja- Subjects, as well.)

But in my opinion, more than the percentage of oppression, it is the self-respect of a woman that indicates her power. Spirituality over Materialism.

Spiritual consciousness mentions the importance of both Man and Woman in the in progressing the universe and maintaining the balance of the universe. None is more or less important.

When both men and women have self-respect, then both will give respect to each other and not expect respect.

The message is that instead of expecting respect, compete to give respect, charity begins at home. By making your thinking, your language and your eyes civil. By removing filth from the thoughts, abuse from the tongue and criminal vision from the eyes, there will be only purity here. When everyone has respectful thinking, respectful language, and pure civil vision and even an unknown woman feels safe in the presence of a man, only then the practical form of women empowerment will be seen”.

?A Man’s view in a Woman’s world counts as he too plays various roles of son, husband, father, brother and need to understand a woman’s stance in all situations.

Yes so I do believe Men and Women are not same but then supporting each other through the difference is much more important than proving who is stronger. MEN need to introspect, visualisation and make conscious efforts, so their thoughts and behaviour is at Best in presence of a WOMAN.
